Tracking consent transparency

Last updated: 28 August 2026

This page is the consent notice for Crosswalk panel software (browser extension and related apps). Read it before you install or keep the software running.

The contract is the Terms of Use. How we handle information is the Privacy Policy. This page states what you are agreeing to when you join the panel.

If you do not agree, do not install the software, or uninstall it.

At Crosswalk we believe in empowering you to take ownership of your data. We sell non-identifiable information, aggregated captured data to our clients to help them make smarter business decisions.

Our primary goal is to understand how a group of people behave online and track trends and patterns. We do not sell you Personally Identifiable Information.

1. What you are consenting to

By installing Crosswalk software, turning it on, or accepting a paid or unpaid panel offer, you consent that Crosswalk Technologies, Inc. may:

  • Collect the Layer A information described below from the device and browser where the software is installed

  • Use that record to operate the panel, honor your rights, pay or support you where applicable, and build aggregated audience products

  • License those aggregated products (Layer B) to credentialed clients

You are consenting for yourself, or as a parent or legal guardian for a named minor where that collection is legal. You are not consenting for everyone else who might use the same device.

If others use this device, uninstall the software or contact privacy@crosswalknyc.com.

2. Two layers. Do not mix them.

Layer A is your panel record. It can identify or pseudonymously identify you. We hold it so we can run the panel and honor requests. US consumer privacy laws apply to Layer A.

Layer B is what clients receive. Clients receive de-identified, aggregated audience products: group statistics that cannot reasonably be linked to you or your device. They are not a list of people. They are not your URL history.

We do not sell your personal information as an individual record. Licensing Layer B is not a sale of personal information. We will not attempt to re-identify a de-identified or aggregated product. Public commitment: De-identified data.

3. What we collect on the panel

With your consent we collect:

  • Identity and contact you give us (name, email, phone, payout details where used)

  • Device and technical data needed to run the panel (browser, OS, device type, IP address). IP is used to operate the panel. It is not shipped to clients

  • Clickstream: URLs visited, timestamps, and related digital events across search, social, media, e-commerce, owned properties, streaming video, streaming music, gaming, and vMVPD / FAST

  • Declared profile details you choose to provide (for example an age band)

  • Records of your rights requests

We redact emails, reset tokens, account IDs, and other sensitive query parameters from URLs on device or at ingest. Identity keys are stored apart from the behavioral log.

We do not collect Social Security numbers. We do not use captured data to determine eligibility for credit, employment, insurance, or housing. We do not use genetic information for forensic genetic genealogical DNA analysis. Products are not consumer reports.

A shipped client file never contains your name, email, phone, IP address, cookie, mobile advertising ID, device serial, panelist ID, precise geolocation, or one person's URL history.

4. Age and parental consent

The panel is for adults by default.

With parental or legal-guardian consent, we may collect digital behavior from a person under 18 where that collection is legal. Under 13 requires verifiable parental consent (COPPA). See COPPA and Parental consent.

We do not sell a minor's personal information as an individual record. We do not use it to market or advertise directly to that minor. Client products remain aggregated. They do not contain the minor as a row.

If we learn we collected from someone under 18 without the required consent, or in a place or for a purpose the law does not allow, we delete it.

5. How we use Layer A

  • Operate the panel and the software

  • Honor access, deletion, correction, portability, and opt-out requests

  • Build aggregated audience products for clients (Layer B)

  • Security, fraud prevention, and legal compliance

  • Service messages about your account or panel participation

We do not use panel clickstream to serve you ads on Crosswalk properties as a named person.

Clients use Layer B to understand how groups behave online (what they watch, search, and buy at the category and brand level). They do not receive you as a row. They are not authorized to contact you from a Crosswalk file.

If Crosswalk is involved in a merger, financing, or sale of assets, Layer A may transfer with the business under the Privacy Policy.

6. Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Uninstall the software at any time (stops new capture from that install)

  • Request access, correction, deletion, or a portable copy of Layer A

  • Opt out of sale, share, and targeted advertising of Layer A on Crosswalk consumer properties

  • Limit use of sensitive personal information (California)

  • Withdraw consent

How: uninstall, then email privacy@crosswalknyc.com, call +1 (818) 231-2610, use Your Privacy Choices or Opt-Out, or write to Crosswalk Technologies, Inc., Attn: Privacy / Opt-Out, 23465 Civic Center Way Bldg 9, Malibu, CA 90265.

We respond within 45 days. We will not discriminate against you for making a request.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control (GPC), we treat it as an opt-out of sale, share, and targeted advertising on consumer-facing properties.

Deletion runs on the panel record. We will not re-identify a Layer B file to pull you out of it. You are not in that file. Later product builds inherit the deletion.

7. Retention and security

We keep identifiable panel records for panel operations and legal duty, then delete or de-identify them. We do not keep Layer A "indefinitely" as a default. After a valid deletion request we delete or de-identify the panel record.

We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access, and a written information security program. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

8. Updates

We may update this notice. The date at the top will change. Material changes may also go out by email. Continued use of the software after an update means you accept the new notice. If you do not, uninstall and send a deletion request.
